The Scottish Government has pledged 25,000 apprenticeship places a year for the next five years

Today on AAT Comment Jacqui Hepburn, Director of Alliance of Sector Skills Councils in Scotland, offers a glimpse of what is being done north of the border to plug the skills gap with vocational training and apprenticeships.

 

Kaplan Financial Scholarship Opportunity

Kaplan Financial Glasgow is delighted to announce a scholarship opportunity for a student currently in S4-S6 who is interested in a career in accountancy. The scholarship will provide the winner with free AAT training, followed by the professional qualification of their choice (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CIPFA), worth in excess of £15,000*. The ideal candidate would be someone who is capable of obtaining a place at university but is considering entering the workplace as a school leaver.

‘Sustaining Success’ in Scotland’s Colleges

AAT recently exhibited at the 2011 Scotland Colleges conference at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, entitled ‘Sustaining Success’.

The conference featured an address from Scotland’s new Minister for Learning and Skills, Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, who pressed home the need for colleges to look at initiatives such as mergers as a way to pool valuable resources and improve service delivery against a backdrop of pressure on FE sector funding.

New progression routes for HNC/D Accounting students

HNC/D Accounting - What next?

Following a detailed mapping of the AAT Accounting Qualification to the revised HN Accounting qualification in Scotland we have now confirmed clear progression routes for anyone registering as an AAT student after 31 July 2011.

How it will work:

From the 1 August 2011 any HNC/D student registering with AAT will be awarded the exemptions below, depending on the units they have passed.

Upon registration we will ask students to confirm the HNC/D units they have taken and they will be asked to send copies of their certificates to the contact centre.
